What is Plasma Pen & Fibroblast Therapy?
Fibroblasts are the part of your skin that produce collagen and elastin that keeps your skin tight, smooth, and hydrated. Many skincare products and procedures focus on methods that increase collagen or elastin in your skin, but fibroblast therapy uses plasma to help our bodies naturally produce more collagen and elastin. Plasma Pen is a nonsurgical procedure that can treat almost any area of the body. It is commonly used around the face to treat smile lines and issues with wrinkly sagging skin around the jawline.
What To Expect: Plasma Pen
Plasma Pen works by using nitrogen plasma gas. During your treatment ionized plasma gas is released from the pen to right above the skin. This gas causes superficial trauma which stimulates your skin rebuild and produce more collagen and elastin. It is similar to how any muscle training works, by superficially tearing and stretching our muscles during a workout our bodies will repair them stronger than they were before. In the same way during a plasma treatment your skin will get dozens of plasma bursts on the epidermal layer of your skin that will cause your skin to produce more collagen and elastin naturally.
The Plasma Pen Process
- The First 3-7 Days After Treatment: Although Plasma Pen treatments are minimally invasive and require little downtime, there still is necessary recovery. For the first week after your treatment you will likely notice tiny carbon crusts appearing at the treatment site. They will flake off naturally over time and are our bodies natural response to superficial trauma.
- 1 – 12 Weeks After Treatment: Over the next three months your skin will continue the healing process from your Plasma Pen Treatment. Although some of your results may appear almost instantly, your full results will likely appear over the course of three months.
- 3 Months to 3 Years After Treatment: After three months the skin forms new blood vessels and cytokines; specialized proteins that help our bodies repair new skin cells. On average, patients see continued benefit from their Plasma Pen treatment 3 to 5 years after their treatment
