How Do QWO Injections Work:
What Causes Cellulite?
The majority of people have or will have cellulite. It is a common misconception that cellulite is caused by fat. In fact, developing cellulite can happen regardless of diet & exercise. As we age our skin thins, fat cells under the skin can enlarge and push against the skin, and bands of fiber can thicken and pull down sections of the skin. Together the three factors can create dimpling in the skin.
What Does QWO Do?
As the first FDA-approved injectable for cellulite treatment in the buttocks, QWO works by breaking the fibrous bands that pull the skin down. Over the course of multiple treatments, this injection can help women see visible changes in cellulite around their buttocks and hips.
3 days prior to your treatment, it is recommended to avoid the following to decrease the risk of bruising after treatment:
o Alcoholic beverages
o Any blood thinning medications or supplements that increase the chances of blood thinning
o One week prior to treatment avoid taking: Advil, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Excedrin, Motrin or any NSAID.
o One week Prior avoid: Herbal supplements such as Gingko biloba, Ginseng, Flax oil, Cod liver oil, Fish oil, Omega 3’s or other essential fatty acids, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and Garlic
o Please arrive to your appointment with the treatment area clean and free of any product

- QWO Injections: Like other injections. QWO is a quick minimally invasive procedure. QWO is injected directly into the buttocks. It is common to receive up to 12 injections per treatment area. Patients will often have three separate treatments with 21 day gaps in between them.
Avoid alcohol or any blood thinners (Medication or supplement) for 24-48 hours following treatment. Avoid exercise or strenuous activity for 24 hours
Post treatment bruising is the most common side effect and the majority of the patients will experience this. The severity of bruising lessens with each additional treatment session.
- Ice may be gently applied to help with swelling for 5 minutes 3-4 times per day for the first 2 days.
- Avoid taking: Advil, Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Excedrin, Motrin or any NSAID.for the first week to avoid worsening any bruising that may occur
- Acetaminophen/Tylenol may be taken if experiencing any mild tenderness or discomfort.
- It is not necessary to rub or massage the injection sites following treatment.

QWO is the first FDA approved injectable designed to decrease the visibility of cellulite around the buttocks for adult women.
Typically patients receiving QWO treatments will need to make three appointments with 21 days between each appointment. Most patients see their full results around 10 weeks after their first treatment.

QWO is injected by your medical aesthetics provider directly into targeted areas of your buttocks to break down the fibrous bands that cause cellulite. The procedure can take less than 10 minutes, and clients do not have to plan any recovery time.
Like other medical aesthetic procedures, QWO can cause severe allergic reactions in clients who are allergic to any of its ingredients. You should not take QWO if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or have had allergic reactions to other cellulite treatments in the past.
Other than that, the most common side effects of QWO is light bruising near the injection sites, itching, redness, swelling, and warmth in the treatment area.
