When deciding to get fillers or Botox for the first time, you probably have a few questions. At Kathryn Russo Aesthetics in Newton Centre, we would be happy to answer any of those questions via phone or email. However, we have gathered a few of the most common questions and answered them here for your convenience. If you have any additional questions or would like to set up a Botox or filler consultation please send us a message.

What Can I Expect At A Filler Consultation?

When you set up a consultation at our office we will spend some time with you planning your treatment. First, we will need to discuss your goals, your budget, and do a facial assessment. In fact, depending on your goals, a different aesthetic service might be recommended than the one you have in mind. Our number 1 priority is getting you the look you want while maintaining your comfort.

How Do Botox & Fillers Work?

Botox Cosmetic uses a neurotoxin called Botulinum toxin. This neurotoxin works by stopping the muscles in the face from contracting which will decrease the visibility of lines that are formed when our facial muscles contract. Fillers on the other hand use different natural acids can increase our body’s natural collagen production inside our skin that decreases the visibility of fine lines. Our bodies produce less collagen and hyaluronic acid as we age, by injecting this acid into our skin we can smooth the skin and add volume.

Do I Need To Prepare For My Appointment?

No preparation is needed before a consultation. We do of course want patients to have a general idea of what they are looking for in terms of results but we do not require you to have gone through extensive research or preparation. Our team can easily make recommendations and talk you through your options.

How Long Does An Injection Treatment Take?

On average, once the consultation is over, the actual injection can take 5-15 minutes depending on how many fillers or Botox injections are you are planning to get.

Do Botox & Fills Hurt?

This is one of the most common questions asked by patients. Generally, most patients report that they feel a slight pinch, similar to getting a flu shot or another injection. But if you are worried about pain or nervous with needles we can use a topical numbing agent to make the experience more comfortable.

When Will I See Results?

Botox injections usually appear somewhere between the first few days after your treatment to one full week after your treatment. Filler results are, in a sense, instant. But it does take a few days for the fillers to fully set in.

How Long Do Results Last?

Botox lasts three to six months, many patients will get Botox once or twice per year. In fact, a lot of patients get preventative Botox which can prevent lines from appearing in the first place. Fillers are dependent on the type of filler you get. But the ballpark for fillers is anywhere from 9 months to 2 years.

If I Don’t Like My Look, Can You Remove My Fillers?

If a patient does not like the way they look after a filler treatment, there actually is a medication that can dissolve the filler and return the face to the way it looked before the treatment. However, we do want to remind patients that filler treatments take a few days to set-in and are not permanent.
